Josh Druckman was born in Toronto Canada in 1970, the youngest of four children. Gifted in art from an early age, he was encouraged by his parents to pursue the creative arts. He attended summer art schools at the Art Gallery of Ontario and in Siena Italy. At Upper Canada College he excelled at art, winning awards and accolades. He spent a year at Mount Allison University’s Fine Art Program where he was awarded the Dean’s List. Despite winning a scholarship to continue at Mount Allision, he transferred to McGill University where he graduated with academic distinction in Psychology. After university he lived in Japan, teaching English and working on a video game while continuing to create artwork. Upon returning to Toronto, Josh dedicated the next year towards painting which resulted in his first solo show in May 1995. He began exhibiting in local establishments but struggled with the idea of living as an artist. He came to the conclusion his artwork was too personal and not commercial enough unless he changed it, which he was not willing to do. He made the decision to pursue another of one of his passions; video games and technology. He went on to build and run several game studios and interactive projects, all the while continuing to create artwork in private. You can learn more about his career on LinkedIn.
As an artist, over several decades he created hundreds of drawing and paintings, his style and subject matter evolving as he matured. Finally, in February 2017 at the age of 47, he decided it was time to open up. He began to display his work on social media such as Facebook and had a successful solo show in Oct 2017. Druckman.com was launched to showcase the work he has created over the years. The majority of his work has never been seen before until now.
