Josh was born in Toronto, Canada in 1970. In his youth he attended summer art schools at the Art Gallery of Ontario and in Siena Italy. He was awarded the Dean’s List and the Dean’s scholarship after his first year of Mount Allison University’s BFA program. Unsatisfied with art school, he transferred to McGill University where he graduated with a degree in Psychology. Afterwards, he lived in Japan where he experimented with traditional Japanese mediums and newly emerging digital art technologies. Upon returning to Toronto, he dedicated the next year towards his first solo show. He began exhibiting in local establishments but struggled with living as a traditional artist. He made the decision to pursue another of one of his passions; video games. He went on to build and run several game studios and oversee many interactive digital projects. His passion for art never left him and he continued to create in private. Over four decades Josh has created hundreds of drawings and paintings, his style and subject matter evolving as he matured. In 2017 he began again to pursue his lifelong dream of being an artist.
